Dover originally created their CD versions in Bitmap, Gif, Tiff AND JPEG files , but this book and the other two like it, are only done in JPEG files...a lazy, useless way to offer clip art. I don't know what happened, but you can no longer group the images like you see done on the cover of this book, because they only offer jpegs, which give you images in a white box.....So misleading. And when I called Dover to find out,they had no answer, and did not return a phone call that they promised. I used to love Dover and have many of their earlier clip art books on CD, but stay away from these if you expect the same quality. What a waste of money.Product details

Reviews indicated there was a CD included. Not so.
I have been working on making some cards of this type, but couldn't find clipart I liked. This sourcebook is full of just what I was looking for. I'm on my way to making a variety of cards for sale at a local craft show.
I just love this collection of images that was put together for this book. I've been delighted to see several base images used by Graphic 45 in some of their paper collections.
Not as much variety as I had hoped but a lot of interesting images.
If you're doing any sort of print project like a program, brochure or booklet, this is a great starting point for ideas and even illustrations. The book is chock full of a variety of steampunk and victorian imagry and is available at both high and low resolutions on the accompanying disk. I have not seen anything else out there with this variety and quality of images.
There editors/authors did a great job of picking out victorian and industrial pictures that can be used in a steampunk themed design. The DVD that comes with it is very helpful and really beats having to scan and clean up the resulting digitized image. My only complaint is that a lot of pages are given over to what I guess was some sort of contest where images in the collection are used to make full page scenes. The scenes have little to do with anything that can be recognized as steampunk and were a waste of space. I hope that potential steampunkery wasn't booted to make room for these, though I suspect they just ran out of suitable pictures and needed some filler.
Regardless of the weird and not at all useful full page not-steampunk pictures, the rest of the book is indispensable for quick access to steampunk-style accents for a design project.
