A great resource for anyone interested in popular music, music history and all kinds of pertinent, related information. Before I purchase cd's I always check the Whitburn book to make sure I'm getting all the songs I want by the particular artist.
This is a book for any Music Lover that likes to collect music and build their library. Essential information, history, chart listings, etc., about each person/group that charted in Billboard history. A big help when I compile my music in itunes. I always get this book when it is updated.

I liked this book by Joel Whitburn. It contains the top fifty artists for each decade from 1955 through 2010. If you are a record collector or a fan of Rock N Roll, this is a great resource. Besides listing every artist, it includes their singles that made Billboard's Top 100 Chart and Bubbling Under chart. Lists all of the #1 songs for each year from 1955-2010. Finally, a ranking of the top 200 songs from 1955-2010.
I highly recommend this resource for fans of Rock N Roll.
This book contains multitudes of information. I was pleasantly surprised to find extra features. It not only lists Hot 100 hits but also, hits that bubbled under the Hot 100 and lists nearly all of the artists non chart hits. There are also many new and extra categories in the back of the book like Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists and songs. This is an invaluable source for any person who does historical research for music. It will take a long while to read through everything in this book.
Joel Whitburn is the music industry's greatest asset!
His books are a MUST-have for anyone who has liked popular music (of any genre) for the last half-century. This latest edition includes additional information about songs and artists... several features not in Joel's previous books. I can't say enough GOOD things about this valuable book.
